WE ARE GOING TO THE CORE-RULESET SERVER, SKULL THRONE. IF YOU HAVE BEEN LIVING UNDER A ROCK, OUR ALLIANCE WITH ALL OR NOTHING IS NO MORE!

Peace jiggaboos.

From Fenir, a Thesis on Core.

For some of our members our declaration as a hardcore pvp guild seems anti-thesis to rolling on Core. Let me be the first to assure you that this is untrue. A Core server is how the game was built around playing, and Mythic explicitly says that in their server descriptions. Now take a step back, why did you first get excited about this game? City Sieges, Keep Sieges and RVR, right? Of course, because thats what this game in the end is about.

Now remember that Core is how Mythic perceives their game to be played, with open RVR being almost a complete after-thought with rule finalization (maybe note even final) being banged out within days of launch. We as Limb From Limb do not feel that an Open server grants anything that we cannot achieve in Core as far as showing our prowess as a guild in RVR. What it does offer though, is a misguided rule set that is thrown onto a system built ground up for something completely different, with potential exploits abound.

I feel that if you do not believe the competitiveness of a Core server will match an Open server then you do not truly understand what draws people to Warhammer, all of the players want to engage in RVR, most at high levels of proficiency. Some want this to be in a controlled environment, which in my mind focuses the skill level to an even sharper point, such as the old days of rolling AB after AB in WoW. This is the essence of Core, focused, intense RVR.

I've updated the Guild Stats. Thanks Morpheus.

Alright, to answer some questions regarding the decision to roll on a Core server.

In no way is the Core ruleset going to be restricting. You can expect the same experience as the many stages of Beta. Nothing is going to change in that respect.

The game was DESIGNED to be played on this type of server. To quote Mythic directly,

Core servers are just what you’d expect. These are servers that have everything Warhammer has to offer, with no special changes to the normal ruleset... Select a Core ruleset server for the original exciting gameplay experience that WAR was designed to offer.

Phew, I really didn't want to leave sweat Core really is the superior ruleset. Keep sieges and open RvR raids abound! There would have been no raids till end-game if an Open. =/

If they'd just have kept the chicken mechanic fully intact for the rvr lakes, open would have been cool. Just my thoughts on why the current open ruleset is a bad idea. And it has nothing to do with not wanting to be attacked while pveing, I could care less about that.

Level 2 fortresses can be attacked by players up to and including level 31 on open servers. They're also in the level range of someone who's level 10, but there is NO bolster. Meaning a level 10 would be competing as a level 10 against people level 31. Needless to say, there will be no fun to be had for the level 10 in being raped without a chance to do anything in return.

The same thing applies to tier 3, fortresses will be sieged by level 20's getting their asses handed to them by level 40s. No fun.

While this doesn't apply to anyone who stays on par with the leveling curve, what about alts? What about that friend of yours that wants to play with you 3 months after release, but can't even do shit in pvp until they're around level 30?

What about a level 31 tank and healer duoing tier 2 fortresses at 5am and screwing up the whole progression leading up to capital sieges?

In my opinion, too much of the original design of the game to sacrifice just so that you can pvp someone in their quest zones.

Lets not forget folks. Warhammer is a Realm vs Realm/PvP game. It was designed from the ground up to provide an excellent PvP experience. Open does not make you hardcore or better in any way. It just proves that you are a slave to group think, falling for the arguement that it is more hardcore.

QFT. Besides, if you REALLY want some pvp in a chapter, flag yourself and go hunting. I can almost guarantee if you play your cards right, you'll get some open RvR. Ask Coruth what we did in the Greenskin Chapter 3 town lol Damn that was fun.
